Intellectuals were among the protagonists of 20th century culture and are now a seemingly extinct species: Erri De Luca is one of the few survivors. He is an artist who does not confine action to the written page but tries to leave a trace in the real world. Besides, De Luca was born in Naples and therefore music is part of his DNA – but as he specifies, he cannot sing in tune. Only a musician like Stefano Di Battista could make De Luca’s secret passion emerge. Di Battista dedicated but did not restrict his career to jazz: driven by curiosity, he often and unexpectedly explored new territories (he participated in the Sanremo Festival Contest several times, for example). De Luca and Di Battista gave life to “La musica provata” (Music Rehearsals), published by Feltrinelli as a book, DVD and CD. A collection of thoughts, songs and music in the shape of a theatre performance.
