30 NOVEMBER, SATURDAY
AUDITORIUM PARCO DELLA MUSICA
TEATRO STUDIO BORGNA
9 pm – Via Pietro de Coubertin, 30
Roberto Ottaviano: saxophone. Marco Colonna: clarinets. Alexander Hawkins: piano. Giovanni Maier: bass guitar. Zeno De Rossi: drums. This ensemble needs no introduction. In this new project, the Puglian saxophonist, Roberto Ottaviano, has decided to pool together a series of compositions by Abdullah Ibrahim, Charlie Haden, Dewey Redman, Elton Dean, John Coltrane, and Don Cherry, alongside his original songs. The choice is entirely up to the musician and “brings together tangible presence of all the proud and fierce beauty of mother earth and her best souls, in a call, during these difficult times, to celebrate the hope and desire for the redemption of humankind”. A music that wants to reach the universal essence of jazz as secular prayer, community ritual, liberation song. Ottaviano does well to remind us that time has been, is, and will be.
